Doctor Strange #1 brings Stephen back to life. While it starts with him putting a sign above his door to let people know he’s back in business, this ramps up to see what the day to day with the doctor is like. We get some quick interactions with the likes of Spider-Man, Luke Cage and Daredevil. This shows a better version of the relationship between Stephen and Clea and while I really loved Strange for showcasing Clea I really enjoyed this issue for coming back and bringing Staphen to the forefront. The final panel leaves us with a classic cliffhanger leaving us wanting the next issue.

We also get a second mini story that deals with the Agents of W.A.N.D. While this started off a bit confusing and didn’t seem like it was connected it brings it all together at the end. I am not a huge fan of backup stories, and I wish that they just made an oversized one shot to bring this story in. I will say it wasn’t the worst thing I’ve read and does tie back into Doctor Strange, I personally have never enjoyed back up stories.
The art from Pasqual Ferry was awesome. I am not really familiar with them and their work, but I loved this. Also, having a cover by Alex Ross is never a bad thing in comics and this cover was fantastic!

While I am not sure this is a must read for everyone, if you followed Death of Doctor Strange, and Strange I think this is an awesome audition to those stories. I do think a new reader could pick this issue up and enjoy it, however going back and reading those two series would help bring it all together.
Over all I’d give this a 3.75/5. Maybe not the best place to start off, but a continuation of an fun story! Jed MacKay is doing the best work at Marvel and this story is not different at all.
